23. Business TV

The advent of TV channels dedicated to business coverage is a phenomenon that has accompanied the rise of cable and satellite TV.

There are several such channels available in the UK. The main ones are:

CNN has periodic business coverage during the day and a 30-minute mid-evening programme, which takes in business and stock market news from the USA.

CNBC and Bloomberg have continuous coverage of business and investment related stories throughout the day and the evening. From mid-evening onwards, there is extensive coverage of happenings in Wall Street. Both display continuously scrolling price information for leading stocks and market indices.

Programming content is generally news orientated, with a particular focus on short-term interpretation of company news, interspersed with occasional interviews with broker's analysts, traders and economists.

All these TV channels also have a related web presence (www.cnnfn.com, www.bloomberg.com, and so on) with 'portal' style content.
